17 hh Appaloosa (possibly crossed with Thoroughbred) gelding for sale. Tazmaniac (Taz for short) is a sweet gelding with a big personality. We were told he was 5 when we got him almost five years ago, so he's around 9 or 10 years old. He can be ridden either English or Western; he has great potential for jumping - I have seen him jump a five foot fence from a standstill. He is also VERY fast when you can get him up to speed. He is bay with a white blanket.... (read more) He has good feet but does require shoes for heavy riding/riding on rough terrain. He has not had a single health problem since we've gotten him; he's a VERY easy keeper and doesn't need grain to keep weight on. He would do best with an intermediate rider. He is a sweet boy but he is well aware of his size and will take advantage of an inexperienced rider. We have led little kids around on him and he does great as long as there is someone experienced in control. He is not spooky, but he is not bombproof - he requires a confident rider to give him confidence. He's a fantastic trail horse - very lazy and never in a rush to get back home. He has a great warmblood build with a beautiful trot and a huge canter. We've never clipped him, so I don't know how he'd do, but he trailers and bathes well (he'll fall asleep when you give him a bath). When we got him, he would pull when tied, but now you can just loop the rope over his neck and he won't go anywhere. Taz would make a great horse for a teenager looking for a second horse (which is how I got him) or for someone looking for a flashy show prospect - he definitely stands out in a crowd! I never expected to sell my best friend, but being away at college means that he is not getting the love and attention that he so deserves. He's a wonderful horse and I love him very much - he likes to drink diet pepsi! I'm asking $1300 OBO and to a good home only - if possible, I'd like to visit him from time to time and get updates on how he's doing. Please e-mail for more information and pictures.
