Additional Comments:
This mare was harness-raced from 2002-2005. She earned $33,000 in her career and her record mile (pacing) was 1:57.1. I adopted ED Maple (affectionately called "Fred") in 2007. I broke her to saddle and competed with her in endurance riding. Fred ran 4 25-mile rides for me in 2008...she did very well. I got Fred with the intentions of competing her and then breeding her to our Arabian stallion, but we've since decided to get out of breeding completely. She is open and for sale, and would be a competitive endurance horse, trail mount, or she could get back into competing on the track. Fred is sound and healthy, and is always ready to go. She has excellent ground manners and handles easily for the farrier, vet, bathing, grooming, loading, tieing, you name it. Fred can walk calmly down the trail or she can fly....well, almost; it sure feels like it when she opens up her trot. (In the pictures shown, she's only in 2nd gear). She is very controllable at all gaits, although she hasn't been finished at taking her leads at a canter. Her trot is big enough that when I competed with her, we didn't need to move out of a trot. Fred is competitive and loves to go. Fred is very strong and can carry a fair-sized rider easily. She has a big heart-girth, good bone and hard hooves. She's got the heart of an angel around people, but she can be a little crabby around other mares. She prefers the company of one gelding and is low in the pecking order. This mare will have to go to someone who will take excellent care of her and who understands what it means to post a trot. Email me for more pictures.
