Penny is a 13yo mare who has pretty much been there, done that. Drill team, speed events, trail riding, team penning, husband ridden, Special Olympics pony rides, and even went fox hunting once.
She is a big, sweet girl and is the same ride every time you get her out, even after several month's off. She is gentle and has a ready 'whoa', but will pick up the speed if you ask her, and all it takes is a slight squeeze to move her up in gait. Sit back and say 'whoa', and she's plowing to a stop. Has a nice ground covering trot and canter.
She is gentle, quiet, and traffic safe. Penny would be a great first horse for most anyone. She has the training, size, and ability that she wouldn't be outgrown very quickly. I would not recommend her for a timid, "passenger-only" type rider unless it's a nose-to-tail trail ride. She tends to go her own way (right back to the house or trailer) if left to her own devices.
Penny will pick up leads, side pass, backs easily, stands well for vetting and farrier work, easy to catch, and will put her head down and walk on the trail all day long. She is dominant in the pasture but isn't a bully.
Penny is Impressive and Diamonds Mr Oil (Blondy's Dude) bred (HYPP N/N). See her pedigree at here http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/johnnys+little+girl2.
I don't use her as much as I used to and would love to find her a home where she would be needed and appreciated. Would consider a trade for a registered running bred horse.
