Update 10/17/09: I had Barney's price lower, but as we work with him it is increasing. We are riding Barney many times a week, exposing him to all kinds of things. We are taking him out of the arena and riding him in the pasture, on trails and up and down the side of the road. He is a really nice horse that handles everything he comes across. I am really pleased with his attitude. I might just decide to keep this one!I will not trade or finance. I do accept credit cards (visa, mc & discover), but there will be a 3% processing fee.Barney is a sweet, very gentle people person type horse. He loves attention and grooming. I bought Barney to help me build up my riding confidence this summer while my husband worked with my 3 year old gelding who was a little bit of a handful for me. I needed a horse that I could learn on and be safe. Barney has had 4 months of professional western pleasure training in the spring of 2008 and another month in May of 2009. He is a western pleasure bred horse. His sire is the famous "Selection So Simple" and has a breeding fee of $1000. You can see his sire at:www.selectionsosimple.com for pictures and information. If you trace Barney's breeding back from his sire and then every sire on the top side for 11 generations back each sire is a champion. (WWW.allbreedpedigree.Com/a+selection+by+zippo).Barney goes back to Two Eyed Jack, Zippo Pat Bars and many other champions. His sire has: AQHA High Point Junior Western Riding HorseMulitple NSBA Bronze WinnerSuperior Western Pleasure HorseHas over 400 AQHA pointsAQHA High Point Western Riding StallionAQHA High Point Western Pleasure HorseSuperior Western Riding HorseRegister Of Merit, TrailBarney will move nicely off your legs. I've practiced often moving him only off of my legs with the reins on his neck. Barney will side pass nicely and also at a trot. Barney has a nice western pleasure slow trot and a very nice little lope. He is a pleasure to ride! My husband and I practice the Clinton Anderson methods and Barney has been through all of the ground work exercises. He is a quick study and a VERY smart horse. Barney has a long mane and tail and a show quality short coat.I had Barney's teeth floated a few months back along with all his shots and a current coggins. Barney gets his hoofs trimmed every six weeks and is currently barefoot. Barney loves routine and is very gentle on the ground and on his back. He is not a spooky horse, not much upsets this one. He would be fine for a teenager. He needs a caring, pre-approved family to adopt him. If this was a perfect world, I would keep him for a horse that my friends could ride, but since I am back on my 3 year old have decided to find Barney the best possible home. I would rate Barney a 2 on a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being totally bomb proof and 10 being a crack head. I've never meet a 1, but Barney is as close as I've come to a 1. He is about 15.1 or 15.2 hands tall. He is a bay gelding with a tiny tiny white dot on his forehead. He has black hoofs and black stockings with a black tail and mane. He was born 03/15/05, which makes him 4 years old. HYPP/NNWe are located 65 miles west of Fort Worth off of I20 at Lake Palo Pinto. 40 miles north of Stephenville. 35 miles south of Mineral Wells and 70 miles east of Abilene. We have a round pen, pasture and a arena in which you may ride Barney in.
