Additional Comments:
Barn Name: Pal Breed: Pony Height: approx 13.2hh (will measure) Age: 15 y/o Gender: Gelding Colour: Palomino Health: Excellent, Easy Keeper, UTD on Shots May '09 (Flu/EVR, WNV, Rabies, Tetnus, Strangles) Lameness: None - Sound Vices: None Personality: Friendly. Easy to Catch, Lead, Groom, Tie, Trim, Trailer, etc. Good with other horses, ponies and donkeys. Downside is..... he is too hot for timid riders such as his previous owners, which is why he is here. He may also have some previous abuse as he has trust issues under saddle. History/Training: Purchased for $2500 from a dealer in Sept '07 they had hoped that with regular riding and lessons that he would be suitable for their daughter but sadly she never felt comfortable riding him as she always felt like he could explode! Future/Suitability: English or Western, Show or Pleasure - Not Suitable for a Beginner Rider Additional Info: Provided by previous owners .... He certainly knows walk, trot, canter. Never refuses a jump. Just has a tendency to be quite goey (how do you like that word). You will find he just doesn't seem to relax as most horses and ponies do after you begin to work them regularly. He holds his head quite high and may scoot if you use too much leg. When you get on he may also kind of scoot. He does not buck or rear. He was more suited to a jointed pelham and a running martingale. He also gets quite goey when you reach forward to praise him. He has confused me because he is so good on the ground - and yet quite nervous under saddle. He does have some holes in his training, but someone did a lot of ground work with him. I am thinking he may be more suited to barrels and such - something that has a pattern - he goes - does his job - and is finished. I really don't know his calling but certainly hope we (you) can figure it out. Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: $2000 obo Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted). If you have any questions about Pal and/or would like to make arrangements to see him, please email Claire at HCWEquineRescue@sympatico.ca

Company / Facility:
Heaven Can Wait Equine Rescue - Heaven Can Wait Equine Rescue is located in Cameron, Ontario, Canada - approx 1.5 hours NE of Toronto, just 10 minutes North of Lindsay. This Equine Rescue was started by Claire Malcolm in 1997 to help save horses and ponies from slaughter, and take in any unwanted horse or pony and find them a new, loving home. Not all Horses at HCW are old and lame, or come from abusive/neglective situations, some come from private individuals who want to find a good home for their horse, but don't have the time or knowledge to sell it privately, but don't want to send it to an auction, so they send them here to HCW to find a good home. As you know horses that end up at auctions do have a chance to get bid on by a caring family home, but they also risk the chance of being bid on by a bad home or worse, the meat man.
HCW has found loving new homes for over 700+ equines in the past 12 years (& has even helped find new homes for a few donkeys, pigs, goats, cats & dogs along the way!). |
