Additional Comments:
We have a beautiful, American Shetland Gelding, named Bandit, who is in need of a new forever family. I love him to death, but my children will not ride him and I am too big to ride him, and it is not fair to him, that he just has to stand around in the paddock, bored and looking for mischief. He has good ground manners, halter broke, you can pick up all feet, groom him, he takes a bit, has had a harness on him a couple times, as we were going to train him to pull cart. He is still young and still has a little spook to him and is only "green" broke. He needs a knowledgeable trainer and/or an experienced rider, which my family has neither. His only bad point is he is an escape artist. I honestly believe it is just because he needs a companion. Every time he has escaped his paddock, he has gone to the neighbor's house to see their horses. So a companion for him is a must. We've considered getting another pony, but honestly, when my kids wont ride him, why get a second pony, no one is going to ride. It will be better for him to find a home who will give him a purpose. He would make a beautiful Halloween or Christmas gift. He is the sweetest guy. He has never bit or kicked, bucked, or anything like that. He loves apples and peppermints. He greets me at the fence every time I go out there and I am really going to miss him. But he needs to be a childs horse, that is ridden and spoiled with love, and my children are not interested in that.I will be picky as to who I sell him to. He has had a rough start in life, and I dont want to see him passed/sold/traded on and on and on. He deserves one forever family, and I'll keep him as long as I need to, to find that family. The perfect family for him would include, a child or children, anyone up to about 100-120 lbs could ride him. The family would have another horse, or some type of companion for him, miniature, goat, lamb, etc. They would have experience with horses and be capable of doing what it takes to finish breaking him.I am asking $600 for him, to insure he goes to a good home, that can afford his long-term care. But the price is negotiable, if the perfect family cannot afford that much, we can discuss that on a one on one basis. If you are interested in him, please email me and tell me about your family, your horse experiences, current pets, etc. Include phone number if you want me to call you, ask questions, request more pics, etc.
