Additional Comments:
This mare is a register Bay Paint Mare. I bought her about a year ago and she had basically sixty days on her and then had been turned out of a year and was bred.
She currently has a super big flashy filly on her (i'll send you pics of her if you would like) but she'll be weaned off the end of Junly.
When I bought this mare you couldn't bridle her without a fight and she wasn't very confident.. Whoever broke her had been very very rough with her head. Now she accepts a bridle and bit easily and comes running for treats. I just recently got her to take treat out of your hand.
I have taken her to the local four wheeler park and riden her allot. She was exposed to dirt bikes and fourwheeler wizzing around blind trail corners. She never offered to spook or hop away or anything. She wasn't happy about the firing range. Kept her ears pinned but never hunched or bowed up. She kinda hoped at the first shot but after that she was fine. She'll cross almost anything. Couldn't get her to cross the open metal walkin bridge but then again my 30 year old gelding won't either. Traffic doesn't bother her. I've rode her next to the airport and across paved roads.
She excelles at trails and has no desire to run ahead of other horses either. She's as content to follow as to lead the line. You can walk her face to face with another mare and she won't start a fight or anything like that. She won't run out from under you to go inspect another horse you might run across.
She stand tied and does good for my farrier. She has a thing about her back right foot. She wants to hop around but after a few seconds stands still. I had an accident with her in the trailer when I first bought her and she ended up getting slung down. She'll load without problem in other people's trailers but mine she takes a bit of coaxing. No big deal though.. You can have her loaded and ready to go in seconds still.
I always ride her with a saddle and bridle, but my cousin has ridden her several times bareback with just her halter and lead rope. She also rides double.
The end of last year I was teaching her to heal. She got pretty good at turnin on a dime to just heal pressure but I havn't worked on it much with her recently so she only turns one way by heal pressure now.
The only reason I'm getting rid of this mare is because I need two horses instead of just one and she has me buffaloed. I can take her to the fourwheeler park and she'll ride fine for me. But for whatever reason she will not ride her me at the field she is kept at.
But anyone else can hop on her out in the same field I can't ride her in and she'll do fine.. Go figure.
