A superb trail horse, Dakota does a quarter horse walk, a flatfoot walk, smooth running walk, and is naturally gaited. Ridden by a 54 year old woman, he has led and ridden drag for 3 years on the Cross Country Trail Ride all day slow ride, 8 rides per year. Dakota has also been ridden in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, the Buffalo River in Arkansas, and in the Colorado mountains, driving cattle on a working ranch. He will go up the steepest slopes, cross deep rivers, step over logs and boulders. He gets along with other horses on the trail and stands quietly while being mounted, even with a mounting block or ladder. He parks out, side passes, pickets, hobbles, shoes, clips, bathes, tacks up, loads, does not shy, and is traffic safe.
