Additional Comments:
I purchased Blue in September 2008 for my husband. I went to Tennessee to buy him and he was very thin when I bought him. He hadn't been ridden in about 2 months and I brought him back home. I did ground work with him and got him through the obstacles. He was originally from Michigan and then sold to a man in Tennessee. The Woman from Michigan trail rode him and she was 55 yrs old. One day she went to bring him through the indoor arena and something new was there in the arena. She was nervous and he spooked from her and her hand was wrap in the lead and she broke her finger. She traded him for another horse from the dealer in TN and the new traded horse broke her leg. He isn't really spooky, he will step away from an object that catches him off guard. Right now we are back to some ground work and giving to the bit. He didn't give me any problems riding by himself, but he was too fast for the other horses that rode with us. He doesn't neck rein, but he does have a stop. He stops when you set your seat, place you feet forward and ask for a whoa with the reins. I have an obstacle type course in my round pen that I make my horses conquer before I do alot of trail riding. Blue was worked yesterday in it with the tarp, the decoys, the ball, the floating turkey and the whip with the bags attached. I am also teaching him ot give to the bit on the ground. He leads like a horse should now compared to when I got him and he was a bully. There is now buck or rear in him and can be ridden with or without spurs. He is the bottom horse in the pasture and I have to take him out separatly to grain him. He is still alittle thin and totally noticeable next to any of my other horses which are fat hogs right now. He looks like he is still in a growth spurt and stands close to 17 hands. I just had his feet done and he had his rabies shot on May 1st. He is more than green broke to most people, but without him neck reining and stepping away from objects that take him by surprise, he is green broke to me. He is not the husband type horse (even tho he is my husbands dream horse). My husband rides with a beer in one hand, a cigarette in the other and his reins around the horn. Blue isn't that type of horse. Unfortunatley, I have 4 horses of my own that I need to work and a mare I just sold that I am finishing up with her spring tune up. There is not enough time in the day to play woth all the horses and still do my work and take care of a house. Thanks for your interest in Blue.
