Daisy is a sweet, calm shetland pony. She had been mis-treated in the past, so she is a little un-trusting at first, especially with children, but warms up quickly- especially with treats! She has no problem being led around with kids on her back. My daughter is only 4, so I have not ever let her lose on her own, and I am too big to ride her, but I imagine she would do just fine without a lead rope. We are very attached to Daisy and she will go to a good home only.
