Tahlula is an aged mare, solid black, approx. 11h. I bought her from a Kill pen with an entire herd of heavy pregnant mares. They all had babies and I have been working through this group of ponies all summer. She is one of two that are left. They had never been handled and was a huge chore to catch, halter, give shots to for weeks and let them have their babies, wean them, sell them, halter break the mares and get them broke! OMG...This is what I do and most the ponies come out the other side really good for children and I sell them as such.... (read more) When I got her back they had worn a hold on her withers from a saddle that didn't fit and she was thin so we didn't ride her and she is a quite a handful. She is not easy to catch, but won't kick you when you corner her. We do ride her bareback and with a saddle and she does mind her bridle but when you first get on she might scramble here or there until she is ridden for a minute, then she settles down. She will go and ride anywhere and gets along with anything, but I am in the business to sell a little more reliable pony so I want to make it clear she is not a beginner pony or babysitter, but if a kid can ride and has time to teach her to come to you (maybe put her in a stall for a while) she will make a good pony. I just don't have anymore time with the weather being cold and my kids are timid and it is a chore to get them to ride her. I paid $250 for her, gave her about $100 in exceed shots, paid $300 to break her and have owned wormed and fed her since the beginning of May! I have more than I am asking but really boils down to getting her a good home and a chance at not going back to a sale barn or kill pen! A good home is a must.
