Silver Charm is a 12-year-old, Welsh-cross registered pony mare that is being offered at a very low price for several reasons. We are making some difficult decisions to pare down on our horses, and as much as we like her, she is one of two horses that doesn't have a consistent job. She is sweet. She has never offered to bite, kick, or lunge, at any person. Small children handle her. She has good ground manners. The only drawback may be that she occasionally runs from you when you try to catch her, if she has been left alone for a long time and if she is with her buddies.... (read more) She is a very fancy mover and a very scopey jumper. She has a natural auto swap 99% of the time. She is incredibly smooth. She has never bucked. She has been shown by my 9-year-old in the jumper ring and won first place. She has been trail ridden extensively and is not spooky. She has worked cows. She will back, side pass, and roll back if you know what you're doing. She will leadline children safely. She would be a fabulous endurance prospect with her comfortable, extended trot and energy level. She will walk and trot all day.
Her downsides? She tends to be fast once you take her into the canter. If you watch the video (the link is at the bottom), you will see that my 9-year-old can steer her fine, but the pony is fast in the canter. She is not for a beginner. She is incredibly talented and smart (learns quickly), so she would be perfect for someone who knows something about training and will ride her consistently. Right now, she is only being ridden about once every two weeks by my daughter or husband. We don't lunge her, and she is more or less the same horse. I just want to emphasize that her downside is that she tends to get fast and at very fast speeds, she tends to get very linear (not easy to turn). That can be trained out of her to a degree, but it will take consistent riding. Other than that, she has everything going for her.
She is fat and not too fit right now, but she has been well taken care of and up to date on everything. She goes barefoot and has no health issues (has never coliced or had any serious injuries). If you are seriously interested in her, please call me at 352-256-1824. The price is firm, and I may be open to a trade (e.g. bumper pull horse trailer, ATV, machinery, etc.).
