2013 Purebred Chincoteague Pony mare, Keena, is looking for her best friend and partner for her next stage of life! She is an amazing pony and will surely make someone's dreams come true.... (read more) Started under saddle and is ready to finish and bring along and is an excellent candidate for many disciplines. Would be great for a young adult or small adult. Is very people orientated and a willing learner. I have taken my time with her and developed her slowly with patience and love from the time she was a yearling.
Keena is a 3 year old (1.3.13) Chincoteague *SOLID BAY* pony standing 13.2 with impeccable breeding as far as Chincoteague ponies go! She is a ChinChin Blue blood! A lot of amazing old blood Island lineage in her! Her great grandsire (dam's side) was the amazing Arabian Stallion Premierre.
"In 1995 the Arabian stallion Premierre was brought to Chincoteague and bred to mares at the Leonard Farm to help with generics. Premeirre was later released out on Assateague where he later died in 1999/2000. He was listed as Premier by the now defunct Chincoteague Pony Association. The pick of the 1996 foals were kept. The foals that weren't kept were sold in the auction and several of the ones kept were sold as "buybacks."
She is registered as MDF Princess Peach. The MDF stands for her breeder's farm: Misty Dream Farm. She would be an excellent candidate for a Chincoteague or sport pony breeding program, though, ideally I would like to see her being used for riding/showing! She is so athletic and has so much potential, I'd hate to see her potential to excel in various disciplines not put to use.
Due to my lack of time this year, Keena has been in professional training since May in Warrenton, Virginia and will continue on in training until sold (or leased). She is broke to ride, but keep in mind she is only 3 and still growing so we've been keeping it light. She is ready for someone to take her to the next level and truly enjoy her! She is up to date on vaccines and I've had her wolf-teeth removed in late April (2016). She goes with a bit or bitless. Easier keeper and barefoot.
She stands, loads, clips, is easy to handle and is such a willing learner. I describe her as a "Once in a lifetime horse/pony", she is that special and that's not me trying to play her up. She loves people and is so eager to please. Personally, I believe she will be a top-notch tweeny-young adult's/small adult's dream pony.
I'd recommend an advanced junior rider and/or someone who is willing to finish her up and develop a solid partnership with her. She would excel in hunter/jumpers, eventing, competitive trail, endurance, even western and will definitely become someone's best friend. Her bloodline makes her an awesome candidate for a Chincoteague breeding and/or sport pony breeding program, though she is young and I'm preferring to market her towards someone who really would appreciate her as a riding horse! People often confuse her for a welsh/Welsh cross or Connemara.
I would have kept her for myself and was planning on using her for competitive trail or endurance, and maybe some eventing, but with everything I have on my plate right now it's not an option. She deserves to be with someone who is active in equestrian activities and be used as more than an "occasional" riding horse or even a pasture ornament. She doesn't deserve that, not with her athleticism and potential to excel. She needs a job and would love a lifetime partner!
I have taken my time developing her right. Slow and positive with lots of handling and lots of time with kids, people, other animals, she is very sociably and well rounded! I've been working with her since she turned one. Someone is going to be very lucky with her!
I would like sale agreement to include a first right buy back clause, should she come up for sale again. May also consider a lease option with the right situation.
