Meet Winston. He is a 6 year old unregistered Welsh Pony (gelded). Because of his size he can easily take a small adult or child rider. As of May 2016 he is UTD with vaccinations, farrier work, and dewormer. He does excellent for a farrier. He will pick his feet up for farrier work. He is an easy keeper. He has been under saddle 15 times and 10 of those times have included riding time by both adults and children. Would consider him green for riding but a seasoned rider can jump on him without issues.... (read more) He has excellent ground manners. Just great on a rope. He does not walk in front of person or try and pull the person. The greatest quality Winston has is his eagerness to learn and show what he can do once he has learned it. He retains information/lessons well. He is great with kids and enjoys being around them. This pony is truly patient with everyone and thing.
One thing I can promise you is this pony yearns to learn. He needs someone who will work him and teach him things. He will not disappoint you. I think he would make a great pony for someone who is new to horses and wants to learn training together. I say this because they can learn together and grow together. With Winston’s excitement and joy to learn (not to mention his ability to retain things) and an owner wanting to learn at the same time you would be a great pair. Please remember, Winston was first saddled 3 months ago and that was when he had his first ride. He still needs to be taught the ins and outs of riding and saddling. He is still learning the saddle isn’t scary or the saddle pad won’t eat him alive but once they are on, he is great. I think he could easily be dead broke to ride within a few sessions of training (in my opinion he is broke to ride for a most rider just need to work on desensitizing and more times being saddle to get use to it) and could even be shown within a year, if that is your avenue of choice. I do not want to sell him but he deserve someone who will be able to use him and not just make him another pasture pet.
Will not sell him to someone looking for flip a horse or wants a pasture pet, You must want to train/work, keep him and most of all love him. I am searching for someone who will actually use him (whether it is for riding, driving, or showing). He spent his first 5 years as a pasture pet and deserves better. He is too smart to not be worked/trained. Would really like to see him go to a family with children as he loves them.
Thank you for your interest. Please message me to set-up a time to meet Winston and you can see what a great pony he really is. Please message if you have questions.
*upon request, I have many more photos of Winston. I chose this one because it shows both his body and face*
