"Sonata" is a 7 year old, 15.1 hand Percheron/Thoroughbred cross mare. She is pretty as a picture! Don't let her size fool you she will take up the leg of just about any rider. This girl is solid! Sonata has been with us for a little over a year now and has been in and out of steady work. She was well trained as a driving horse prior to my ownership, but has not been hitched in over a year. We broke her to saddle as a 6 year old. She was easy to break and has since continued her under saddle education.... (read more) She politely stands in crossties and is good for clipping, bathing, tacking, grooming, farrier, etc. she will stand for mounting as well. Quiet personality on the ground and well mannered. She does tend to be the boss out in the field and does best turned out with more docile mares or alone. She is capable of living out 24/7 or being stalled. EASY keeper. Practically stays fat on air. Has wonderful feet. Has been barefoot up until a few weeks ago and was only put in front shoes because of freezing, uneven ground. She is 100% sound. No vices. Currently she's back in a program. She knows how to lunge and is responsive to voice commands. You will not find a horse with a better "whoa"! Rides in a loose ring snaffle. We are schooling walk,Trot, canter and jumping small courses. Sonata would love to go on to be someone's jumping partner. Be it in the arena or out cross country. She absolutely loves to jump and is good at it! Goes at anything you point her at, will take her rider to a fence and canter away quietly. Flat work isn't the most exciting to her but she complies. She is an adorable mover with the most comfortable canter. Responsive to leg aids and keeps her own pace. She is happy to move on but always happy to bring it back to a walk or stand. Sonata is best suited to an intermediate rider or above and appreciates a somewhat consistent rider (3-4 days a week is plenty) to keep progressing with her training . Would love to do something such as pony club, fox hunting, etc. doesn't have a care in the world, no spook.
