"Spot", so named for the large blonde spot on his face, is a large, correct Anglo-Trakehner colt who was bred to event! His dam ALABAMA is Schickedanz-bred from the ABIZA line, by the stallion, Tannenberg. Tannenberg crossed well with "A" line mares, producing such notables as Anton (foaled 1978 out of Abiza)by Tannenberg, who enjoyed a successful career as a Three Day event horse. (Third at the 1987 Canadian Intermediate Three Day Event Championships at Checkmate, Ontario, Second at Checkmate CCI** in 1991, qualified for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona) Alabama is a former eventer herself, and is a big, 17+hh mare with tons of bone. She also has amazing movement which she has passed on to her handsome colt. His sire is my deceased thoroughbred stallion, Wicklow Highlands, who had 98 starts and over $628,000 in earnings on the racetrack in a long, successful career with an incredible history of soundness. After "retiring" he was entered into retraining and proved to be incredibly well-tempered, and extremely willing and trainable. He has stamped his first (and only) foal crop with beautifully balanced conformation, great legs, GORGEOUS heads and well-set necks, and ALL of his foals are extremely people-oriented and athletic.
