Josie is a 12 year old mare that is half QH and half Appaloosa, with one blue eye and one dark eye. She has the typical spotted muzzle and spots under the tail, the rest of her body is dark with just a touch of white hair running throughout her coat. She does have one white streak in her mane as well.
She is one of our personal herd and the only reason we are selling her is our daughter gave me permission since she has moved up to my big horse.... (read more)
Don't miss this pony if you want one that will go anywhere! We have taken her to the mountains, been in arena's crossed rivers you name it.
There is no bite, buck, kick, loads great, wonderful with the Ferrier, ties to anything, will stay on a picket line all night. Does not come in heat and cause any problem, gets along with anything you put her in, ponies, geldings, mares, mini's, mules etc. Sheep, dogs, cows don't bother her.
She has great feet and teeth. She had the typical Appy striped hooves, we do shoe her because we ride tough terrain.
This was the second horse my daughter ever had, we gave our horse shoer's daughter her first pony and it took forever to find this one. She walks out nice on a trail ride so they don't have to trot all day, will go through rivers, mud, bogs, over boulders, trees anywhere the others go she goes. She is not herd bound so they can ride off as well. She is big enough for an adult to ride as well.
We trail road her, but her life before that was a play day pony, probably wouldn't take anything to get her back in shape. We let her have a baby this year and it is about time to wean it so it is a good time to let her go. We will only sell her to an approved home! The ONLY one negative thing I can say is she is sometimes allergic to a weed that grows in our pasture so she will bump up, but then is goes away when the weed dies. Easy to catch, friendly, happy pony.
My daughter rides her with saddle bags, slicker hanging and a canteen banging on her side all day. She will stand still while you get on and off and my daughter has to climb to get on.
There were times Josie had gotten so fat that climbing the hills and going down her saddle would creep up so she can wear a crupper if needed to hold the saddle in place, she also is used to riding in the rain and having the slicker whipped on and off as needed. As you can see from the pictures she is kind of like a little pack pony, my daughter needs ALL her stuff while she rides. lol. Rides in a snaffle bit. Other horses don't treat her like a pony and try to kick at her like they do the smaller ponies, guess it is her big horse attitude.
I have shot the BB gun off her she isn't spooky at noises, not sure how she would do with a full on rifle! I don't claim ANY horse/pony is bomb proof, but this is as close as you get. Good for a very little one that wears a sticky seat and helmet and is lead lined all the way up till they outgrow her.
Some of the locations Josie has been ridden is: Pole Canyon, Cedar Lake, Flying R, Lake Carl Blackwell, Circle A, She has been in several parades, Roman Nose and these are just a few.
