Old Barrington Farm

George Hughes is the Dressage trainer-in-resident at Old Barrington Farm. George began his training career with the challenge of working with young thoroughbreds off the racetrack. From that experience, he developed a patient, disciplined and understanding method of riding. George specializes in starting and training young horses of all breeds and temperaments.
Always in pursuit of furthering his education, George attended clinics with and trained under United States team medalist and Olympic Judge Gary Rockwell for over ten years.... (read more) From this experience, George adopted a Training System based on the well-known Scale: Rhythm, Relaxation, Suppleness, Contact, Impulsion, Straightness and Collection.
George has presented and participated in clinics with such accomplished dressage clinicians as Lilo Fore, member of the Ground Jury for numerous USET Selection Trials for the Pan America Games, the World Equestrian Games and The Olympics; Olympian Jan Ebeling, as well as others.
