Our training focus is primarily on the use of positive reinforcement into which we incorporate the more traditional methods of horse training.
Positive reinforcement training (PRT) is a proven method for teaching horses of any age or discipline to learn the same things they would learn through traditional training. Through the use of a marker signal, the trainer can get a "head start" on some trained behaviors, which ordinarily aren't taught to a horse until they are under saddle. In addition, PRT can be used to enhance, reinforce, or retrain horses that have already been trained through traditional methods. Though the farm raises and trains reining horses, this strategy is effective with all equine disciplines.
Since we believe horse training to be a “building block†program in which each maneuver taught is based on a previously taught maneuver, we do not take horses in training for less than 30 days.
