Lil Man is an OTTB registered with the Jockey Club. He has 55 races and 9 wins from the track. In his last race, he was injured and had bone chips in his knees. He was cared for and had surgery to remove the bone chips, his knees were injected, and he was cleared to begin training for racing again. His track owners decided against returning him to training, so he came to our shelter for training in a new vocation. Lil Man is a perfect gentleman under saddle. He can be ridden bareback as well. He is calm, and has carried experienced and less experienced riders. He shows no signs of his track injury. He is ready to train to your discipline, but currently makes a wonderful riding horse. We have purchased a cribbing collar for him, as he has taken up that habit. That seems to be his only vice. He loads well, picks up his feet on verbal request, is very easy to get along with, and gets along with other horses however, he is at the bottom of the totem pole where the pecking order is concerned, so we keep a close eye on him when other horses are around. Lil Man is a great grandson of Affirmed, the last Triple Crown Winner in the USA. His papers thus go back to War Admiral and Man O War. He is a very well tempered horse. Come give a former race horse a second vocation and a good life off the track. Track owners say he still likes to compete, but per their request, he can never be raced again. He's proven that he likes to be ridden, too. |
