"Obe" was my first horse I ever owned, and I wish he was like everyone I will own from here on out. We came into this relationship, me knowing my fair share about horses, but never owning one. We grew together, and we bonded a lot more than I ever imagined.
Since the first day I got him, I would cross tie him in the barn for hours just brushing him and enjoying his calm demeanor. To this day, when I find I am upset about something it always helps to see him running towards me when I call him.
I'm not going to lie, Obe is an older horse. I think he would be great for a rider that is willing to grow with him. He acts like a kid every now and then, but at his age, he needs to enjoy the rest of his years. I have only had one problem with him medically. He had a SMALL case of laminitis, but it doesn't effect his riding. He just has to be really worked up to spring pasture, which most horses do.
I think he would be a great rehab/beginner horse. Someone who if need be, can grow with him on the ground before getting on him. He offers a lot of trust to someone, and I want someone to enjoy in him as I have though out the years.
Good Qualities: Good with other horses, clips, loads, bathes, Cross ties, saddles well, stands for mounting, not a leader but not a follower, no bad vices (never tried to hurt me such as biting or kicking), easy to work with, loves treats!
Problem Areas: Afraid of 4-wheelers but has never ran on me, just very cautious (but he will ride on the road) and afraid of cows. Not sure why, his pasture resides next to rodeo bulls, but cows freak him out. He has never run on me, he would just much rather avoid them.
I had a lot of inquires as far as him being a horse to get back on after a scare. Yes he would be a great horse for that, because he has a lot of patience, and you would be able to achieve that trust on the ground in order to get back into the saddle.
Please, contact me with any questions. I am trying to get back into school and he needs a home that can love him more than I can.
